Come Run with Jim... Runners NEEDED!!!
To KICK-OFF the second half of the Awake My Sole journey:
150 miles in 5 days.
For Jim, this is gonna be tough.
He will need some serious encouragement.
With that in mind, he NEEDS people to come and run alongside him.

Tuesday July 31 - Run from Manchester (B) to Dubuque (C) (43 miles)
Wednesday August 1 - REST DAY in Dubuque (C)
Thursday August 2 - Run from Dubuque (C) to Bellevue (D) (23.8 miles)
Friday August 3 - Run from Bellevue (D) to Clinton (E) (36.2 miles)
ONE-DAY RUNNERS:
Looking for people to come out for ONE day to RUN any amount of miles alongside of Jim. We will have a vehicle that can take you back to your vehicle.
FIVE-DAY TEAM RUN:
Assembling a team of 12 people to RUN a relay alongside of Jim. One person runs for a couple miles, then jumps in a vehicle, and another person gets out and runs a couple miles, and so on (150 miles split up 12 ways is roughly 12.5 miles per person). Starting point in Waterloo and Clinton is ending point. A vehicle will drive people back to Waterloo.
Additional Info:
- Jim is a slow runner.
- It will be a lot of fun.
- No cost to enter (you will have to cover your food cost).
- Host homes will be lined-up for team runners (bring sleeping gear & extra clothes).
- You will have to figure out how to get to running spot.
- All levels of runners welcomed.

Thank God I'm Alive
Each week I'm hosted in a different Iowa town.
This last week I spent the week in Manchester Iowa, the nineteenth of twenty towns I will be stopping in for the Awake My Sole journey.
Aside from long runs on Mondays, I try to get two or three shorter runs in during the week.
On Friday morning, went for a 5 mile run through Manchester.
Running the North part of Manchester Iowa. |
On the way back from the North part of Manchester, ran by a cemetery. Saw a grave stone with my last name on it.
One day this will be ME.
One day this will be YOU.
Many people differ on beliefs, ideas, doctrines, how they live their life, the afterlife, etc.
... but one thing is for certain, no one has escaped death.
1 out of every 1 people DIE.
I'm not trying to be a downer. If we live with the knowledge and understanding that one day we will die, maybe it would change our outlook on life, or even how we live our life.
Some people are afraid to take risks, for fear of what others think.
Some people are afraid to follow their dreams, because they might fail.
Some people want to make a ton of money, so they pursue a job that doesn't fit their gift set.
What if we live life trying to make each moment count?
Each moment we live can be an action towards a positive or negative impact in our communities and neighborhoods.
Which do you choose?
This BLOG was sparked by this video a friend of mine posted.
Thank God I'm Alive.

Manchester Wrap Up & Waterloo Running Recap
Manchester Wrap Up
Manchester Iowa is a wonderful place with some wonderful people. Really enjoyed my short stay in Manchester. It went by really fast.
Was blessed with several opportunities to speak in Manchester: The Franklin Underground, Youth For Christ, a lunch gathering for younger kids, some churches in a nearby community.
Also got a couple shorter distance runs in.
Learned how to drive a tractor & make my own coffee cup out of stump of wood.

Kept score at a baseball game. One of the games went to 13 innings. 5 hours of keeping score was awesome. Kept me on my toes. |

Waterloo Running Recap
- Total Mileage: 46.4 miles (24.5 miles on Monday, 21.9 miles on Tuesday)
- Weather: Really hot, really humid and really windy. Upper 90's. Went through a lot of liquids and sunscreen.
- Wasn't feeling too well on Monday. It might have been due to the heat. Stopped in Independence for the night.
- Crazy to think, this was the last run of the first-half of the Awake My Sole journey. Get to speak to a boy's camp this weekend, then I'm gonna take some time to allow my body to rest and recuperate.
